Goluen Beit (November 15): bow level— rise lias been risen a further distance vi Oil, making a total height of 33ft. - The reef wo
have been rising on has' functioned with the large reef that was cut in the low level. When the junction was cut there was a large Bow of water, and the men hod to be taken oil for
a few shifts to let the water drain from the reef. Good progress is being made with thy battery. '
New Dart (November 17): During the . past week excellent-progress, has-been made with the extension of the main adit, level, 37ft- having been driven, making; the total 3-16 ft. A'.change worthy of note hns taken place in the country formation. The heads crossing the face are more vertical than hitherto. Formerly the heads inclined towards the hill, a considerable angle. A few feet of hard, but somewhat broken, country has just been passed through'.. When t-iitering this licit a considerable flow of water was met. but has now drained off. The whole length of the tunnel i» in good order, and workis progressing mo.ft satisfactorily. C. Royal Oak (.November 17): Although lor the
past week several trihuters have been getting a little sold, llirieho'a party was the only one to get anything calling for mention, the party havi ing selected -121b of good picked stone. I Coronation (November 10): The contractors have extended the main crosscut 10ft bin for the week, making a total of 65fl 6iu from the starting point. There is no change in the country driven through since last report, it being still of a very disturbed nature. Auckland (November 15): Stopins operation!! have been carried on as usual over the intermediate and No. 2 let-els, two slopes being in operation over the former mid three over the latter. Good payable ore has -come to hand from these slopes, and the assays from Nob. A and 5 slopes are very satisfactory. South of the No. 4 winze the main drive sets are being placed in position, and whan completed a handy little block both north and south will he available for atoping, and should yield sdcrte good ore. A contract has been let to drive the south drive, which will open up some new country, and thoiich the values in the reef in the face at present are low an improvement will.no doubt take place as the high ground ahead and the junction with the I'olton reef is penetrated. The country at present being passed through is of a very favourable description fur gold. At. the No. 4 level fair progress is being made with the cleaning out of -lie drive.
Xew Occidental (November 17): The face ill the main tunnel hus been extended 30ft for (lie week. The present face is now advanced to Stynk'a No. 'I crosscut, •' distance of 920 ft. There is no chuiijre in the present face ; since last report. - It continues to carry soft 1 country, intermixed with, quartz ,veins. Mr. ; Adams', C.K., is to lay. down the course; today to intersect the reef immediately under J the winze, where a good'chute of ore wan left (owing to a heavy' inflow of water) by (lie former company. ■■ Tairua Broken Hill* (November If.): Tie- drive southward on the Night reel at tin- t'Oft level has been advanced 12(t lor the week, making a total of i'.'ili bin. There has been no improvement in tie- value of the ore broken out of this drive during the week, it being "till very poor. The stojies over lie- EOfl level are producing a fair tonnage of payable ore. The contractor!) for tin- underhand Ktopiug on the Night reef will complete their block in the course of a few days. The western crosscut, Inn; been extended 12ft, tor the week, making a total of «4ft. Yesterday another reef Ift in thickness was met with in tins crosscut, carrying a few colours of gold, but not' payable. Kuranui (November IB): The coutraet/n'n have extended the Teutonic level a further distance of 17ft, making the total distance driven on No. I contract 87ft. This leaves them 13ft to drive to complete their contract. The country being penetrated i/; of a good description for speedy progress, but ban rather too many clay heads mixed with it for permanent reefs to live in it. No. 1 level—We have now driven 100 ft from the course of the No. 2 reef south of the crosscut. For the hist .'2sft the country lias been very broken, and has disturbed the reef very much. The leader we have been driving on this week, and which, I think, is most likely the continuation of the hangingwall reef south of the break, has opened out to 4in in width, but so far we have not seen any gold in it. No. 2 level—We holed through to the shaft at a depth of 10ft below (he No. 2 level, and are now ready to start rising on the mineral reef up to No. 1 level.
