AXEMEN'S CARNIVAL.

RECORD ENTRIES. [BY TELEGRAPH.— association.] Elthau, Monday. The entries for the Now Zealand axemen's championship carnival, to be held here on December 26 and 27, constitute a fresh record. The full returns are not yet in, but the entry money at present amounts to £130. The number of entries for the various events are as follows:—Champion Chop, 3; Underhand Handicap Chop, 61; Maiden Chop, 45; Double-handed Sawing Championship, 11 pairs; Single-handed Sawing Handicap, 8; New Zealand Axeman Cup, of £140, 62; World's Championship Underhand Chop, 14; Visitors' Handicap, 57; Backing-up Handicap, 11 pairs; New Zealand Single-handed Sawing Championship, 5; Maiden Doublehanded Sawing, 10 pairs. No less than 400 blocks will be required for the carnival.
