Tenders were accepted as follows:—Supply of 80 cubic yards of spalls on Puke Road, F. Treauor, £26; supply of 500 cubic yards of spalls for repairs to roads in Paeroa, E.Adolph, £66 ss; supply of 200 cubic yards of , metal on Waitekauri Road, E. Bain, £74; supply of 500 cubic yards of spalls on Puke Road, P. Treanor. £141 13s 4d; supply of 400 cubic yards of spalls for . Junction Road and William-street, P. Treanor, £90; supply of 700 cubic yards of spalls between Tarariki , Creek and Doherty's Creek, P. Treanor, £163 6s 8d; supply of 800 cubic yards of spalls between Doherty's Creek end five-mile 7 post, P. Treanor, £180; supply of 450 cubic yards of spalls between the five and six-mile posts, E. Bain, £123; supply of 450 cubic yards of spalls between the six, and seven-mile posts, E. ; Bain, £110 12s; supply of 450 oubio yards of spalls between the seven and eight-mile posts, E. Bain, £157 17s; forming and oulverting portion of Mackay-street, Paeroa, W. , Thomson, £18 17s; supply of 400 cubic yards of spalls between Waikino and the ten-mile >■ post, A. R. Rami, £136 13s 4d; supply of 400 cubic yards; of spalls between the ten-mile post and Waitete bridge, W. C. Kennedy, £136 13s 4d. The Council decided to make a road into the Young New Zealander claim, as recommended by the engineer. The engineer was instructed to make inquiries in Auckland regarding concrete, piles lor the new iron bridge at Paeroa._ ,;.-{'■ ■.<-. A petition was received for a bridge over the Ohinemiu-i River, to be erected at Waikino, and the petitioners offered to contribute £40 towards the cost. The Council decided to erect the bridge, provided the cost to the Coufcl does not exceed £30.
An application. was received from the Waihi Borough Council for a nightsoil reserve in" the county just outside' the"borough, but the application -was refused on the ground that the proposed site was too close to the. road. The Borough Council also ask' ed permission to reserve a belt of land in the county to plant trees to shelter. from wind and; dust. Consideration of the application was postponed for further information. '■-.'. ,
A . special order was made forming . the Waitoa special rating district, and the Council decided 'to obtain a loan of £1700 for the said special rating district for; the purpose of erecting a bridge at Mangaiti and forming the road and approaches thereto. The interest on the loan will be raised by means of'a rate of 7-16ths of Id in tho £ on the ratable property in the special rating district.
