A WOMAN'S DEATH.
[by telegraph.—own correspondent.] Whangabei, Monday. •News has been received of the death of Mrs. Smith, of Otonga. When Mr. Smith returned from work on Friday, he discovered the dead body of his wife lyiHg in bed with the baby alongside her, and his other three children (the eldest being but six or seven years of age) standing close by. A bottle, containing carbolic acid, and a cup, both of which appeared to have been recently used, were standing near to the deceased woman, and suggested the jirobaUe cause of death. Constable Cabill .was Manned of the circumstances, and visited the bouse in company with . Dr. Keller. The woman had probably died tome three or four hours prior to the husfond*, return. .
