EXPERIENCES OF A SOMNAMBULIST.
'A somnambulist received a rude awakening late the her night (fays the Timaru Herald). The man, whose name is F. Goodwin, and who is by occupation a shearer's cook, had gone to bed in one of the back rooms on. the top storey of the Crown Hotel. Just before midnight the landlord, Mr. Mc- ' Leod, and one of the boarders were awakened by a noise on the roof of the back portion of the premises, which is only one storey high. On making investigations, they found Goodwin lying in the gutter of "the rooi: groaning heavily. Dr Lyon, who was sent for, could find not external injuries, and no signs of broken bones. He ordered the man to the hospital, where the exact nature of his injuries had not been ascertained on Sunday. Goodwin stated that as long as he was left in one position he felt no pain, but he could not bear to be moved. He also gave the information ,' that some years ago he sustained a broken. arm in Christchurch through falling over a staircase whilst walking in his sleep, while "'..-■"'. recently ho found: himself outside a hub he '7 was living in at Waimataitai., On Saturday • night he walked through a window of the V * hotel and fell about 15ft on to the road below, the corrugated iron being flattened ./•out by the force of his fall.
