LORD CURZON'S RESIGNATION.

STATEMENT BY MR. BRODRICK. By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright. (Received August 24, 11,30 p.m.) London, August 24. The Secretary for India (Mr. Brodrick), speaking at Godalrning yesterday, said that his regret because of Lord Curzon's resignation was greater than that of any of his colleagues. It had been imperative to carry out a great reform in army administration in India. He, as Secretary for India, had done his duty to the best 'Oi his ability, and he had had the unanimous support of the Cabinet and of the India Council, including a dozen officials of large experience in India; also of a strong committee, including Lord Roberts, Field-Marshal Sir George White, and other experts.
