[BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION,]
Wellington, Thursday. The annual conference of acclimatisation societies opened to-day. Mr. L. Tripp (Wellington) was elected president, and Mr. Fitzroy (Hawke's Bay) vice-president. It was resolved that decoys and cylinder shooting should be included under the definition, " Unsportsmanlike acts," and that no shooting of native game be allowed between seven p.m. and six a.m.
The Ashburton and Canterbury Societies' delegates moved, " That the freezing companies be prohibited from storing or selling game, except during that period when the sale of game is allowed." . This was carried. The delegate of the Canterbury Society moved, "That the sale of game birds imported to the colony in freezers be prohibited during the close season." It was agreed to add to the resolution the words, "Except with the Colonial Secretary's consent," and this was carried. The resolution passed at the last conference, " That it be a recommendation to the Government that every third year be a close season for imported game, corresponding with the close season for native game," was carried.
