Immense quantities of oil were burned and. scores of. houses were destroyed. Hundreds of people in consequence are ' homeless. Twelve negroes lost their lives. Sixty mules were burned to death. Humble is a small place in Harris County, Texas, near to the town of Houston, which is the centre of the cotton -seed oil industry.
