THAMES HIGH SCHOOL.
[by telegraph.—own CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Tuesday. At the monthly meeting of the High School Board, held this evening, the report of the sub-committee appointed to draft a j .scheme for popularising the school so as to increase, the attendance was received, but as the report was a lengthy one, and re- , quired time for discussion, it was decided to J call a special meeting of the Board on this • day week to consider the report, and also ' to consider the question of the erection ■ of 1 the new building, which has been under , consideration for some time, and for which ■ the plans have been drawn. The main fea- ' tures in the scheme set out in the report of the committee were the admission of pupils under the junior technical scholarship regulations, and the alteration of the syllabus of the sohool to provido for the instruction in the necessary subjects, or such of them as could be taught by the - present teaching staff of the school, and i that other subjects, such as cookery, wood- ; work, shorthand and typewriting, bock- ' keeping, etc., bo taught with the assistance of the staff of the technical school. This system, it was considered, would increase the number of pupils and the general usefulness of the sohool.
