QUARTERLY CUSTOMS RETURNS.
The Customs returns for the port of Auckland for the three months ending June 30 show that the Customs duties collected during that period amounted to £148,762, as compared with £1*0,757 for the corresponding three months last year, an increase of £8005. The beer duties totalled £5159, against £1860, an increase of £299. Gold export? amounted to 55,4420z, valued at £224,176, against 65,4560z,. valued at £235,791, a decrease of £11,615. Silver exports wore 342,5100z, valued at £35,579, against 317,1400z, valued at £33,072, an increase of £2507. Other exports were as folJpws:— Butter, 2963cwt, value £13,711, against 3550cwt, value £16,250 (decrease of £2539); cheese, 647cwt, value £1329, against 606cwt, value £1463 (decrease £134); oats, 1066 bushels, value £135, against 1137 bushels, Value £139 (decrease £4); wheat, 382 bushels, value £73, against 338 bushels, value £56 (increase £17); potatoes, 87£ 'tons, value £763, against 184 tons, value £723 (increase £40), Phormium tenax, 2700£ tons, value £62,523 (not given last; year); frozen beef, 998cwt, Value £1561, against 33200wt, value £5542 (decrease £3981); frozen kidneys, 7cwt, value £17; frozen lamb, 5232cwt, value £10,029, against 5704cwt, value £12,190 (decrease £2161); frozen mutton, . 282cwt, valuo £460, against 2137cwt, value £3939 (decrease £3527); veal, 375cwt, value £438; other kinds of frozen meat, 37cwt, value £83.
