WILLIAMSON'S REPERTOIRE COMPANY,, These was a large audience''again last evening at. His Majesty's Theatre, when Mr. J. G. Williamson's Gilbert and Sullivan, Repertoire Company produced that delightfully picturesque opera "lolanthe" for the last time this .season. To-night the company will produce tor the first time here that romantic opera " The Yeoman of the Guard." This is a wort in. which the authors have abandoned the domain of the fantastic and paradoxical, and entered that of serious opera. It was one of tt*e latest productions at the Savoy, and proved a great success. The scene gives a most vivid idea of the Tower Green in the middle ages, and the historical " Beefeaters" with their regalia form a most, picturesque background to a delightful story. The. cast will be a full strength one, and calls upon the entire strength of the com- ! pany. Miss Castles will be the Elsie Maynard the strolling singer, who, to earn a hundred crowns to benefit her poor and starving mother, marries a man who has but an hour to live, but who escapes and gives cailSO to the moving incidents of the piece. Miss Ghiloni plays the delightful parti Of Panic Curruthers, and Miss Thorn© that of I'hoeVe Mcryll. the ingenue of the piece, while Miss do I-oitto will give her valuable assistance to the singing part of Kate. Mr. Kenuinghum has in Colonel Fairfax a part that -suits him well, and Mr. Frank Wilson will impersonate Sergeant Meryll. Mr. John Ralston will he the Lieutenant of the Tower, and Mr. Waiter AVliyto Leonard Meryll. The difficult part of the jester, -lack Point, will be undertaken by Mr. H. H. Wallace, and Mr. Howard Vernon will again appear in one of his original parts, that of Wilfred Shadbolt, the tornicnter and head gaoler of the Tower. The scenery, costumes, ami ap- ' pointments will be up to the usual standard. The box plan is open at Wildman and Arey's. ANDERSON'S DRAMATIC COMPANY. Mr. William Anderson's Dramatic Company produced at the Opera House the melodrama '•Through the Divorce Court", again last evening. The piece is seusationol and exciting, and to the, play-lover who likes this type of drama fills the bill 10 the letter. The phsee will be repeated this evening. - GYMNASTIC DISPLAY. Professor Potter's pupils gave an interesting gymnastic display at his rooms, Elliott-street,- last evening. There was a largo attendance, and some interesting items figured on the programme. After a very creditable display of club-swinging by pupils, Professor T>awrence and Professor Potter gave an exhibition of fencing, which was greatly appreciated. A couple of wrestling bouts between young students of this manly exercise were watched with intense interest, and showed that wrestling has become very popular in Auckland. Some weight-lifting and other gymnastic features concluded" an enjoyable and instructive entertainment. LECTURE AT NEWTON. At the Foresters' Hall. Newton, last night a lecture on " Making Friends With Uncle Sam" was delivered by Mr. C. H. Poole. There was a fair attendance. The lecture was illustrated with a powerful lantern, manipulated by Mr. S. Cooper. A solo was 6img by Mr. W. Stewart, and several glees were rendered by the Wesleyan Young Men's Institute.
