FEEDING THE SYDNEY POOR.
Soke interesting figures have been furnished with respect to the dinner given to the poor of Sydney by the Lord Mayor on Easter Sunday. The total length of tabling used was 1008 ft, by 3ffc in width. Every section of six tables had six: waitresses,, in charge of one forewoman for that section. The edible? comprised 700ll> of meat (including 30 ox tongues), 20 bushels of beans, 20 bushels of peas, 4481b potatoes, 250 quarts of jellies, 150 Mane manges (pints), 100 plum puddings (21b each), 80 loaveii of bread (21b), 50 gallon* of milk, 2000 bottles of aerated water*, total weight of food, one and a quarter tons. Four thousand plates were required oa, which to serve the dinners, and 5060 pieces of silverware and 2000 pieces of glassware were used in the disposal of the foodstuffs. In handling this 40 waitresses, six labourers, three cooks, three carvers, and two kitchen hands were necessary. .
