WIRTH'S CIRCUS.

i The spacious lent in which Messrs. Wirth Eros, are holding their circus in Reach Road was again tilled yesterday with an appreciative audience. The numerous and varied items which go to fill up one of the best programmes yet submitted by a show of this kind delighted tho audience. Chefalo performed his thrilling leap of the chasm and looped tho loop successfully. Captain W. McCloud fully sustained his title as a champion lassco-th rower. Wild Friday exhumed a steady hand with his bowie knives. Mr. Tom Colquet gave a wonderful performance of long and high jumping. Hie clowns and dummies were particularly good. The numerous tricks by the horses, elephants, etc., were exceptionally clever. The last throe nights are announced, and to-night a complete change of programme will be submitted, in which feats entirely novel will be performed. At the matinee yesterday, by invitation of Messrs. Wirth Bros.. 22 veterans from tho Veterans' Home were present. OPERA HOUSE. There was a good attendance at the-' Opera House last evening, when Fuller's Entertainers again presented their excellent programme. Mr. Miller's funny and unique musical act was received with rounds of applause, while tho various other items on the bill came in for hearty appreciation. AUCKLAND ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY. Tho Auckland Orchestral Society will inaugurate their second season to-uighfc at the Choral Hall, when an exceptionally interesting programme will ho presented. The instrumental items include the great Schumann " Symphony in O Major," which will be played for the first time m Auckland, and should attract the attention of all true devotees of music. Tho •'Prelude" to "Lohengrin" should also provide concert-goers with a raro treat—in fact, the whole programme consists of fascinating numbers. Tilt vocalists will bo Miss Lillian Edmunds and Dr. Hugh Keith. Mr. Alfred Hill will conduct, and Heir Johan Wiclaert will lead the orchestra. J. C. WILLIAMSON'S OPERA SEASON. Lovers of good music will be delighted to welcome the appearance of Mr. .). C. Williamson's Gilbert and Sullivan Repertoire Opera Company in Auckland. This company, which commences its season at. Auckland on Saturday, April 15, is referred to by many critics as one of the most powerful musical combinations Mr. Williamson has ever sent on tour through New Zealand. The, artists and chorus, together with the extensive ballet and orchestra, number at least 90 people. The combination, which lias just finished a highly .successful season in Wellington, will produce such popular operatic works as " Patience," " H.M.s. Pinafore," " Tiie Yeoman of (lie Guard," "The Pirates of Penzance," and " lolanthe." A feature of the season will bo the reappearance of Mr. Howard Veinon, after a long absence, from Auckland. The company also includes Miss Dolly Castles (sister ol Miss Amy Castles), Miss Celia Ghiloni, _ Miss Tenia d'Loitto % Mr. Charles Kenuinghani (from the Savoy Theatre, London), Mr. Frank Wilson (from the principal Loudon theatres), Mr. J. Ralst.oa, Mr. Ernest Fitts, Mr. 11. 11. Wallace, Mr. W. Whyte, and many others. As the season is a limited one, rapid changes will take place. The initial production will bo Patience," which will bo presented for four nights only. The box plan will be opened at Messrs. Wildman aud_ Arey's on Tuesday morning next at, nine o'clock.
