An application for leave to dispense with personal service on respondent- in a divorce cum-' was made to-day lo Mi. .Justice Cooper sitting in Chambers. Hir Houoi remarked that; there ha'" 1 lately grown up in New Zealand and New South Wales a. laxity in these matters which would not ho tolerated in England. One or two cases had come within, his knowledge wherein orders dispensing with personal service had been made, and subsequent events bar' shown that Ike slightest reasonable inquiries would have .disclosed the whereabouts of the people!' ••ouocriicd 1 . His Honor woule" insist upon adequate proof being brought before orders dispensing with personal sen-ice would bo granted, proof upon which the Court could fairly assume that reasonable Inquiries and search had 'been made.
