I riCTURF OX PKRSIA. TiiKRK was a good attendance at the. Metho- ! dist .Sunday-school, Onehunga. on Monday evening, when Mr. ('. K. (>• Tisdall, representative of the British and Foreign Bible Society, Isnhal'.an. Persia, delivered a lecture, entitled "Through Persia with Bible ami Camera." Canon J. liaselden presided, and the Rev. W. Made manipulated the limelight and lantern slides. A collection was made on behalf of the funds of the Bible Society. TFRI3 BY THK REV. I). PARRY. A lecture under the auspices of St. Andrew's Society was delivered by the* Rev. David Parry on "Scotland Yet" at St. George'* Hall, Grey Lynn, last night. There was a fair attendance, and the lecturer was listened to with great interest. A number of Scottish poems were recited by Mr. Parry, and during the evening Piper Crawford played several selections on the bagpipes. MOUNT ALBERT ROAD BOARD. '1 in* monthly meeting of the Mount Albeit Road Board was held on .Monday evening, there being presold : Messrs.'.!. H. Harrison (chairman), M. J. Coyle, F. Kvaus, and M. Mrl.eiui. A letter whs received from the- postmaster intimating Dial the let-ter-box at Morning-ide was now included in the three, times daily clearance. A circular letter from the Stratford County Council on the subject of subsidies was referred to the Works Committee. It was resolved to move the gas lamp recently erected at lite corner of Norman-street to the corner of Charles-street, where it would be more useful. A petition received (rum residents of William-street. Mount Albert (formerly Albert Road), asking for the formation of that street, was referred to- the Works Committee, and the foreman was instructed to ' submit a.i estimate of tot. It; was resolvent I hat the Board'.-, solicitors be instructed to ! frame a -law -under section 12 of the PubI lic Works Act. IGOI, for the purpose of re- ; gulating the traffic ill scoria, etc. The clerk I intimat'v! having received the sum of £17 4s lid from the Treasury, being refund of amount deducted' from subsidy on account of infectious diseases hospital. The Board Inning been cited' as a party to the industrial dispute* with, the Quarry and Scoria Pit Workers' Union, the clerk was appointed to appear on be-half of the Board with a view of obtaining exemption. A resolution by way of special order, authorising the raising ; of a special loan of £3500 on account of waterworks, whs confirmed, and another resolution making by-laws for levying charges for water, regulating ordinary and extraordinary supply, licensing plumbers, and the like, was also confirmed. The clerk reported that the balance-sheet for the year ended March 51. 1904, had been certified, with an exception, by the Controller and Auditor-General, the following being the certificate:— " Examined and found correct, •vtespt that the payment to the Public Health Department of £15 16s sd, on account of the infectious diseases hospital, is without the. authority of the law." The clerk plained that tin's amount had been detained by th« Treasury out of subsidy. It was resolved that, the engineer prepare nlaiif and estimates for repairing and grading tin* main road from Mount Roskill Road ■, to Kingsland Road. Messrs. Klliadon and ! Kvans were appointed to act with the chairman as a Works Committee for (ho month. At counts were passed for payment amountiPir -o £229 133 6d on general account,' £42 lis 6d on water supply account, and £523 on waterworks loan account. AROHHILL ROAD BOARt'. The ordinary meeting of tho Archhill Road Board was held on Monday, the members present being' Messrs. J. Jenkins (chairman), A. Catehpole, C. Wa.ddingham, F. Rowe, and Gentles. A letter was read from the Auckland City Council re the. sewage running through 'the district, and stating that the matter' was under consideration, a system of drainage having been suggested that would prevent any nuisance being caused by the city. Mr. Jenkins moved, •'That the clerk write to the Mount Albert Road Board drawing attention to the dangerous state of the bridge at tho foot of Commercial Road, and requesting their co-operation in renewing the same a en,;, of £?.('." 'Ibis was rallied. The accounts passed for payment included £78 4s 4d (general) and £6 12s scl (water account). HELPING HAND MISSION'. The special mission conducted by Dr. Warsou, from America, closed with a praise meeting at tho Freeman's Bay Hall on Monday evening. There whs a very large attendance, and threat enthusiasm was displayed. On Sunday the hall was crowded in every n«rt. Dr. Watson"? exceedingly alio discourses bare excited wide interest.
