A RECENT LAND PURCHASE.

ALLEGED OVERPAYMENT BY THE CROWN. [BY telegraph.—press association.] G/sbobne, Monday. In connection with the recent purchase of the Takapau Estate, at Tolago Bay, by the Government, it is stated that the Crown paid for 400 acres more than the property actually contained. The amount alleged to have been overpaid (a sum' of £2074) the Crown is now seeking to recover from Mr. J. B. Divy, Registrar-General of Lands, with 6 pro cent, added, alleging that the overpaid amount was caused through a mistake of the Land Transfer Department on the plan of the laud. The case has bean fixed to be heard it Wellington.
