BATTLE AT WA-FANG-TIEN.
HEAVY RUSSIAN. LOSSES. REPORTED JAPANESE y REPULSE. St. Petersburg, June 18. General S.tatlebetg has telegraphed to the Tsar that at noon on Tuesday the Japanese repeatedly and vigorously attacked Ma position six kilometres south of Wa-fang-tiett, a station on the Manchurian railway north of Port Adams. The Japanese, he says, were repulsed, and the Russian* retained the position, though sustaining; serious losses. Colonel Khavannoff was among the killed and General Geruorosfc was severely wounded. General Kuropatkin, in his report, refers vaguely to losses Which are supposed to have occurred in this encounter. ' - London, June 15.
