INTERESTING DISCOVERY.
By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright. New York, April 11. Professor Charles Baskerville, of New York, has discovered that thorium, previously believed to be itself an element, is resolvable into carolinium and bezellium. The new elements are both illuminants.
Thorium is a rare metal, resembling aluminium, but taking fire below » red heat, an J burning with great brilliancy It wa» discovered in 1829 by Berzelius, in an earth to which he bad given the name Tboria, and which occurs in a rare black Norwegian mineral named thorite. ' '
