Vice-Admiral Rojestvensky, chief of the Russian navy staff, in an interview, declared that the Russian fleet at Port Arthur at the outset ought to have gone out and fought tooth and nail, and even sacrificed the fleet, in order to prevent the Japanese landing in Gorea.
