EDUCATION MATTERS.

[BY TKLEGKAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION".] TiMAiur, Tuesday. The South Canterbury Board of Education, at a meeting to-day, approved of the suggested training colludes lor teachers, and agreed that the control of the colleges should bo directly under the Education Department, assisted by a committee of advice. In regard to the additional capitation of 9d for incidentals recently made for school committees, the Board regretted that the distribution of such funds had practically been taken, out of their hands, and decided to ask the Department to allow them to allocate the money according to their own scale, as distribution per capita gives a very small sum to small schools, which most need assistance.
