THE PREMIER INTERVIEWED.
CHINESE IN THE TRANSVAAL. [by telegraph.-—press association.] DcnediNj, Tuesday. The Premier, in the course of an interview, said Lord Plunkett, the now Governor, was expected to arrive on June 15 or 20, and as Parliament opens in the last week of June he will almost certainly be here by that time. Referring to the Chinese in the Transvaal, and Lord Milner's statement that for every Chinaman in the Transvaal there would be a white man employed, the" Premier says that generally there is one white man for about a hundred coloured men. Chinese traders were bound to follow 'their countrymen. They could not be stopped, and there will be a Chinatown established in Johannesburg, with all its attendant evils. Nothing has yet been settled with reference to the manager of the State fire insurance** or Government auditor for the Rank of NewZealand. Both matters will come before the Cabinet shortly.
