Capetown, January 24. Some 45,100 adult white males signed the Transvaal Importation Association's referendum petition in favour of Asiatic labour. Since the 15,000 Government employees were not permitted to sign the petition the signatures are equal to 10 per cent, of the population.

AfiCLnociiNKj January 25. The Trades' Hall Council lias adopted a resolution expressing alarm and indignation at the proposal to introduce Chinese into the Transvaal.
