WATER POWER FOR ELECTRICAL PURPOSES.

[BY telegraph.—press association.] Wellington, Tuesday. There is sufficient water-power in Wa-iroa County and the Urewera Country to provide electricity for the whole of New Zealand for many years. In addition to Waikaremoana, recently. visited by Mr. Perham, there are the Manganui and Ohau Rivers (a tributary of the Wa-iau Rover), on which there are twelve waterfalls, one 150 ft high. There is another large waterfall on the Ruakitnri River, finer than Te Reinga. Others in the Urewera Country are equal to the Hulca Falls, but are ohlj known to a few guides, a special outfit being required to explore them, owing to the rough state of the country. Mr. Perham arrives at Napier and Mr. Armstrong arrives at Gisborne to-day.
