She was alone in the house at the me. the grown-up family, consisting of a In and three daughters, being away at work, /n returning home shortly before six o'clock ihe youngest daughter (aged 18 years) failed ic find any trace of her mother, but discovered a note in the deceased's handwriting the contents of which caused her to ;fejr the worst, and threw her into such a > strte of alarm that her brother, William, wjo arrived a few moments later, found her , erring bitterly. The son, on being acquainted with the news, immediately called in some of the immediate neighbours. A through search of the house fas made wihout result, and then a move was made to the wash-house, the door of which was foiad to be locked from the inside. On the dor being burst open Mrs. Ormsby was fotnd hanging by a clothes line from the rod. The body, which was immediately cut down, was found to be quite cold, and ill efforts to restore life proved futile. The local police officer (Constable Hinton) and Dr. E. Robert on were at once summoned, jut the medical man could only pronounce ifo. extinct. The note referred to as left on ,he table has been mislaid, but is said to lave contained a threat to commit suicide. Vhen the members of the family left home n the morning the deceased was in her jsual condition as far as her health was conrerned, and did not appear to bo in any way iepresssd. Shortly after three o'clock in he afternoon she was spoken to by a neighJou.. while in the garden, and nothing uusual was then noticed in her manner. Alhough Mrs. Ormsby had been unwell for ome years she had not consulted, a medical lan, but was under the impression that she •as suffering from a serious internal comlaint.
