INVESTITURE OF SIR A. J. CADMAN.
INTERESTING CEREMONY AT > GOVERNMENT HOUSE.

Wellington, Sunday. On Saturday evening, at Government House, His Excellency the Governor invested Sir Alfred Cadman with the insignia of a KnightCommander of St. Michael and St. George. The ceremony took lace in the drawingroom before dinner. ;■ "' "
On entering the drawingrcom His Excellency, who was in full dress, proceeded to a dais at one end of the room, the band playing "God Save the King." Major Alexander (private secretary) then read the warrant signed by the King, authorising the Governor to hold the investiture. After the reading of the warrant Mr. Cadman, walking between his supporters, the Hon. W. C. Walker, C.M.G., and the Hon E. Richardson, C.M.G., and preceded by Lord Northlaud, A.D.C., carrying the insignia on a crimson cushion, moved up the drawingroom to the dais, the party bowing three times during the advance. Mr. CHdmaft then knelt before His Excellency, who touched him lightly on each shoulder with a. sword. Sir Joseph Ward, K.C.M.G., read the "Admonition," and handed him the warrant. The Governor v iio\v motioned the new Knight to rise, and placing the r.nsignia upon him shook hands, and he retired slowly backward with his supporters, bowing three times.

Harcourt), Sir James Hector, K.C.Tu.G., F.R.S.. the Hon. W. Hall-Jones, M.H.R., Mr. W. F. Massey. M.H.R., Sir Henry John Miller, M.L.C., the Hon. C. H. Mills, M.H.R.,the Hon. J. McGowan, M.H.R., the AttorneyGeneral (the Hon. Colonel Pitt, M.L.C.), Sir James Prendergast, the Most R*v. Archbishop Redwood, the Hon. E. Richardson, C.M.G., the Hon. John Roberts, C.M.G., Sir William fhissell, M.H.R., the Right Hon. R. J. Seddon.
