The South Canterbury Acclimatisation Society prosecuted eight persons, including a Chriiteb'H'ch publican, a commercial traveller, a police constable ci Dunedin, and several residents of Temnka, charged with the illegal capture of trout, the party being accused'of using dynamite in Opihi River. After a little evidence was heard, the case fell through, counsel fo; the society stating that they had been misled with regard to tin evidence. Costs amounting to about £10 were allowed against the society. The case excited considerable interest.
