LONDON, April 11.—Our own correspondent writes:— the Admiralty Division of the High Court, Mr. Justice Bucknill, sitting with Trinity Masters, disposed, this week, of the case of the Atlantic Transport Company and others versus the owners of the Waikato, her cargo and freight, being a claim of the owners, master, and crew of the s.s. Michigan, belonging to the Atlantic Transport Company, for salvage remuneration in respect of services rendered to the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamship Waikato in the Atlantic Ocean from July 27 to July 30 last. The defendants admitted the services, but said that they were of no unusual character. The value of the salved propertv was stated to be £110,816. The Michigan was worth £133,000, her cargo £30 000, while her freight at risk was £4500. Ml. Justice Bucknill, in giving judgment, said the services were skilfully performed, but they did not give much difficulty to tha salvers. The weather throughout was moderate, and the Michigan ran no more risk than was usual when one large vessel had hold of another during day and night. He had decided to award a sum of £5500, in the following propoitions: £4125 to the owners of the Michigan, £450 to her master, and £925 to the crew.
