ALLEGED THEFT OF PUBLIC MONEYS.
A ROAD BOARD CLERK CHARGED. At the Police Court yesterday forenoon, before Mr. T. Hutchison, S.M., William Latfca Loekhart, who lias for some years past held the position of dork to the Otahuhu Road Board and secretary of the Otahuhu Trotting Club, was charged with the theft of £10, the moneys of the Otahuhu Road Board. Chief-Detective Grace said the accused had only been arrested during the previous evening, and applied for a remand. Ha added that the books of: the Board were being audited, and ho was informed that they were in a bad way. Oil being asked if he had any oojtction to the remand, accused, who appeared to feci his position keenly, replied in the negative, and said he pleaded guilty. A remand for .one week was granted.
