FARMER'S BOY RE EGGS.
TO TUB EDITOR. Sir,On opening the Herald this morning I observed " Farmer's Boy's" letter, and as'ho sometimes writes sensibly I reply. Lost Saturday one of the largest grocers, retated eggs at Is M. This week, and for several weeks. I have sold to four shops at Is 'Id. i r ou have their ■ names separate, and you or "Farmer's Boy" can easily verify. If an outsider came to me during scarcity, I would not supply at any price, much less Is 6d or is 7d. Perhaps those buyers spoken of by "Farmer's Boy" arc such as retail at cost when plenty. Give " Farmer's Boy my address, and I will soon convince him ol the folly of. rushing up prices and killing the demand. One example now: On September i& and 24 eggs were put up to 9d. Result, four weeks clown to Yd, viz., October 9,9, November 5, 12, 19. 1 was then confident eggs would not have been less than 8d last season, but raising to 9d at once stopped bakers' pickling.—l am, etc. - Only a Small Geocek.
