MAHARA ROYAL MINE. [from our own correspondent.] Thames, Saturday. The development works being proceeded with in this mine are resulting in most encouraging prospects. They comprise the driving of a new low level, and the sinking of a winze upon the main reef from the level above, at a point where payable ore was obtained when the latter level was opened up The winze has attained a depth of about- 50ft. and is turning out excellent grade ore, the reef being about 4ft thick. A further distance of about 250 ft requires to be driven at the low level before a point underneath the winze will be reached, but payable ore should be met with long before that distance, is accomplished. When a connection is made between the winze and the. low level, backs of about 120 ft in height will be available for stuping. SOUTHERN MINING. [by TELEGRAPH. —PRESS association.] Dunedin, Sunday.
