Mr. Moss Davis left for New Plymouth by the Ngapuhi yesterday. The Rev. J. P. Moulton was a passenger from Sydney yesterday by the Mararoa. Mr. F. E. T'aume, M.H.R., was a passenger to New Plymouth yesterday by the Ngapuhi. The Rev. T. W. Dunn, of St. Enoch's Church, Newtown. Sydney, was a passengj.* to Auckland by the Mararoa yesterday. Mr. G. R. Nazer. of the staff of the New Zealand Farmers" Co-operative Association, Christ church, was presented with a frold sovereign case and matchbox before leaving to take up a position in Wellington. A very pleasing reremony took place on Saturday, at the offices of the Citizens' Life Assurance Company, when Mi. 0. H. Taplin, who has been district superintendent of the company for a number of years, was presented by the staff, prior to his leaving lor Wellington, with a handsome silver-mounted walking stick and smoker's companion. A very pleasant evening (writes our Paeroa correspondent) was spent in St. Mary's Presbytery last Friday, when several of the Roman Catholic ladies assembled to take leave of Mrs. Atkins, late of the Royal Mail Hotel, who is leaving on a holiday trip to Sydney. The Rev. Dean Hackett. on behalf of the ladies and Sisters of St. Joseph's, presented Mrs. Atkins with a suitably-in-scribed floral album. An incident of a very pleasing character took place at the. Marton District High School on Friday afternoon, when Miss Margaret Gordon, one of the assistants, was presented by the teachers and pupils with a. handsome travelling rug. as a token of their esteem and goodwill, prior to lier departure for Duned.in, whither she is proceeding .11 order to study the Chinese language with a view to entering upon mission work in that country. A farewell social was tendered to the Rev. H. L. and Mrs. Blamires, in the Methodist schoolroom, Hamilton, on Friday evenin on the eve of their departure for Gore, whither the conference has removed Mr. Blamires. Mr. Worsley occupied the chair, and spoke ill eulogistic terms of the good work which had been done in the circuit b\ Mr. Blamires. The Rev. J. Gibson, of Cam bridge, and Messrs. Hatrick, Webber, and ,A.dams spoke to the same effect. Mr. blamires returned thanks, stating that the membership roll of the church was now nearly double what it was three years ago. He wished specially to thank the congregation for their sympathy and kindness during Mrs. Blamires' illness.
