THE CRICKET SEASON.

PARNELL WINS THE CHAMPIONSHIP. FINE BOWLING BY OLIFF. The championship matches under the auspices of the Auckland Cricket Association wero continued on Saturday at the Domain and Devonport. Chief interest was centred in the' Parnell-United match, upon which the result of the championship rested. Batting on a bowler's wicket, which quickly cut up, United collapsed in a sensational manner, Oliff's bowling proving very deadly, and they only managed to compile the meagre total of 43. The game and championship thus fell to Parnoll. PARNELL V. UNITED. . United, with two wickets down for 22 runs, resumed their first innings. They were unable to make a stand, however, Oliff having them fairly tied up, and the game resolved itself into a procession, the remaining eight wickets falling for an additional 21 runs only, D. Hay (7, not out) being the chief contributor. " Cliff's performance with the ball, though aided by the state of the wicket, was brilliant. His average for the day was six wickets for 11 runs. Parnell played out time, and knocked up 123 runs for the loss of seven wickets. They won by 60 runs on the first innings, thus annexing the championship. Parnell, first innings ... 103
