CONGREGATIONAL UNION.

[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, Tuesday. A deputation from the Presbyterian Assembly waited on the Congregational Union this morning to discuss tho proposed union of the churches, and formally presented a copy of the resolution passed by the assembly at their meeting in Wellington last November.

The Pvev. H. Miller read a paper, in which he compared the position of the Church in 1885 with the position in 1903. In 1835 there was a, membership of 1682, and to-day there are 240 churches, with a membership of 2002. Tho value of buildings, etc., had increased in the 18 years from £40,000 _to £55,000. _ A motion was carried expressing appreciation of the resistance offered by the Nonconformist churches of the Homeland to the Education Bill. In the evening the Rev. W. A. Evans gave an address o«. "The Basis of Authority.'
