» [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Palmerston North, Saturday. The Farmers' Union meeting to-day decided to take immediate steps to protest against the dairy school being established at Levin. A strong deputation, including representatives of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association and Chamber of Commerce, will wait on the Minister with the district members of Parliament and leading members of the union. The extension of noxious weeds in the district caused a lengthy discussion. The establishment of central co-operative grain stores for farmers was approved. Steps are to be taken to define the position of a farmer unwittingly buying diseased stock at auction. Inveroarcill, Saturday. At the provincial conference of the branches of the Farmers' Union to-day a motion that the executive take steps to have the law altered to prevent unfair "trotting" by auctioneers was carried ; also that auctioneers' liconse fees should go to the County Councils. A motion expressing strong disapproval of the Departmental conditions for the use of country telephones was passed, and it was recommended to the branches to make the subscription of members 10s per annum. Several minor suggestions were left or referred to a committee.
Hot weather: Cool drinks, lemon or raspberry, made with finest flavours. One packet, ilb sugar, one and a-.half pint hot water, bottle and use a tablespoonful to glass, and that Boy will know Tucker's.
