KAUBI GUM MARKET.

The . following are our quotations of kauri gum for the week ending December 15,1902: —White gum: Poor ordinary, £40 and upwards; fair ordinary, £69 and upwards; bold, three-quarter scraped (free from nuts), £85 and upwards; East Coast (good quality), £90 and upwards; rescraped, £125 and upwards. Black gum: Nuts, £18 and upwards; medium (free from sugar), £24 and upwards j good, £60 and upwards. Seiharks on market: Arrivals for 15 days of December, 330 tons. There i 3 no change to record in the gum market; the chief demand is still for. the poorer qualities.

There wa3 a full attendance of local and English buyers. Prices all round showed a satisfactory improvement, low grade coarse crossbred advancing ■ from ~. l£d to 2d on last year's ' rates, while fine, bright crossbreds Were a half-penny to three farthings higher. The demand is confined to-best milling, feed sorts being only salable in small lots. The quantity in hand is small. ADDINGTON STOCK MABKET. ; ' CHBISTCHXJ&CH. Wednesday. , At Addington market to-day, there were good entries, and average attendance. Fat cattle: The • 265 yarded were nearly all of good to prime quality, and a few extra heavy bullocks. Competition was easier all round, ' and ; a drop of from 3s to 4s per 1001b has to be recorded, best beef making to 31s, other sorts to 28s per 1001b. Steers, £8 10s to £13 129 6d; heifers, £6 10s to £10 12s 6d; cows, £5 12s 6dto £10 15s. ; Store cattle: Good demand existed for all classes, and i clearance was effected at the following 1 prices: —Yearlings, 27s to 36s 6d; 15 to 18-months-old cattle, £2 8s to £3 9s 6d two-year-old steers, £4 18s 6d to £5 12s 6d; ditto, heifers, £4 10s; 2|to 3-year-old steers, £6 ips ; three-year-old heifers, £5 17s 6d; dry cows, 35s to £4 10s. Dairy cows were a medium entry and sold at £4 5s to £8 10s and up to £10. Fat sheep were a large entry, the greater portion beins fat crossbred ewes, with a fair yarding of ff ??H to prime freezing wethers, but many would have been more in place in the store pens.
