A young man named John Walters was charged at the Police Court this morning with attempting to commit an assault on a young married woman early this morning. He was remanded till Tuesday, bail being allowed accused in £200, and two sureties of £100 each. Nkw Pr.YMOCTH. Saturday. The condition of Mr. John Elliott, of Mahoeuui, is extremely critical. Dr. Home, after a 12 hours' night ride, reached him on Friday morning, and performed an operation, giving some relief, but there is slight hope of recovery. Another doctor from Hamilton was summoned on Friday.
