Tairua Broken Hills were done at 8s 6d. -with, more buyers at that price, sellers 8s 9d. Waihi Extended? changed hands at Is 6d. Waihis were held miner at £5 13s 6d. buyers offering £5 9s Cxi. Waitekauris had" buyers at 2s 9d, sellers 3s 6d. Woodstocks were looked for at 4s 3d. sellers 4s 9d (call paid). There ha-s been a meeting of the Mananu Gold Mining Company, in London, at which the reconstruction of the company was agreed to. On this being carried into eilect, there will be a limited amount of money found to further test the mine. In the meantime the battery is to be closed down, after a clean-up, whilst the necessary legal formalities in connection with the reconstruction scheme are being completed. WAITEKAURI G.M. CO. j There were rumours in town yesterday I to the effect that favourable developments : had occurred in the Waitekauri Gold Mining Company's mine. As a result shares in the company hardened on the Stock Exchange, buyers advancing from 2s 2d to 2s 9d, with sellers asking 5s 6d. No information has yet reached the local office I of the company as to the foundation for I the rumours mentioned. BIG BEETLE G.M. CO. In the Big Beetle- Gold Milling Company's mine, at Grant own, the rise from the low level has been holed through to the winze, and the new leader at the low level is being driven upon. Two tons of ore from here and from the winze are to be sent to the Thames School of Mines for treatment. AID TO PROSPECTING. [NT TELEGRAPH.— OWN CORRESPONDENT.] '~ . _ Paekoa, Thursday. At the County Council meeting "this afternoon, Messrs. T. Scahlon and Eyre, prospectors, of Karangahake, reported that they had driven 50ft, and had also done a good deal of surface prospecting, with the result that they had struck a small lodo, about Sin wide, giving a small prospect of fine gold. They therefore applied for the Council's subsidy of £4. The application was agreed to. It was also decided that details of the work done should bo forwarded to the Mines Department.
