CAMBRIDGE. THE committee of the Cambridge Poultry Club met. last week to make final arrange, ments lor the forthcoming show, to be heM on the 16th fast. The secretary reported that about 120 entries had been received It was decided to write to the manager of tho' Government poultry farm at Kirikiriroa asking if he will exhibit some of the birds it. the show.
An adjourned meeting of the Cambridge Golf Club was held on Monday. The Kcv Jno. Erwin occupied the chair, but after the president had been elected retired in favour of Mr. W. P. Auckland. Walker, and the other of" ficers, ex-oflicio. The action of the subcommittee in arranging for the use of'Mr Jno. Arnolds ground at a rental of £2 log per annum was confirmed. It was derided to adopt the rules of the Auckland Golf Club with such " modifications as the committee may determine. The subscription was fixed at 5s for lad its anil 10s for gentlemen. Th« links are to be laid out tills week, and practice will be commenced as soon as the wilt clubs arrive from Auckland. The club days are to be Wednesdays and Saturdays. *

Mr. Mandeno, the supervisor, reported that he had arranged for the necessary work to be done on Bygrave's Road, at a cost of £5., The Board authorised the supervisor to have 20 chains of formation done on the same road, -R wa> decided to spend £50 in opening np some o! the roads running through what is knowi, as Francis' property. Twenty chains of formation is to-be done on Perry's Road, neir Te Balm, and 12 ■■< chains on Jones ant' Churches' Road. Mr. J. The Coronation celebrations at Paeroa, passed off very successfully, a woll-arranged I programme affording an exceedingly interesting! day. ■ There was a very fair show of bunting and decorations. The morning was devoted to religious services. Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's by Dean Hackett, and a; good congregation also attended at St. Paul's and the Volunteer Drill Hall;' At tho former r the service issued by the Archbishop of Can- : terbury was used, the musical portion being; conducted by Mr. H. L. Harston. The Rev. J. E. Cowie officiated, and a collection in aid of the Maori Girls' School resulted ~in*£l ■■ Ms 6d being; obtained. The United Presby--.'. terian, and Methodist service at the Drill Hall was largely attended. The. volunteers, under Captain McArthur and Lieutenants : Hubbard: and Nathan, and the Paeroa Band, under the leadership of Mr. S. Mettam were present. The Rev. Fussell (Presbyterian) '..resided, and the address was given by the Rev. J. Belton ; (Methodist). Special Coronation hymns , were,;; sung, the combined choirs being accom- : - panied by the band, the whole being tinder the conductorship of Mr. J. Keid. A, collection in aid of the Bradford memorials was taken up, and amounted to over £3. The volunteers were then marched down to Victoria Square, where the leu-de-joie was fired,: LieutenantColonel Porritt commanding. The celebrations for the afternoon were started b" a procession from the railway station. The hand led the way, t the procession •■ including veterans, volunteers, cadets (under Mr. Gooseman). county councillors, % school children,, natives;, ■" and general public. Mr.. H. Poland, county chairman, laid the foundation stone of the V Bradford memorial as i a commemoration of the declaration of: peace. The stone - bear.'! the : " following \ inscription: ' "This stone "was ':': laid on the Coronation Day of His 1 ; Majesty King Edward VII., to commemorate the declaration of peace in South Africa, after the; war 1899-1902; peace declared June 2, * 1902.— H. Poland, Chairman Ohinemuri County Council." Mr. Poland gave on interesting address. Lieutenant-Colonel J Porritt'- then affixed a plate on the large flagstaff, which bore the following inscription :—" Erected by ; the Ohinemuri County Council to' commemorate the Coronation of His Majesty King Edward VII., June 26. 1902, postponed to August 9. 1902." After three cheers for the King and ■ Queen had been given, a splendid ensign', was ; hoisted by Mrs. Poland.' and at a 1 signal |the s band struck up the National Anthem, the public joining in. 'Mr. \V\ Moore (county< councillor) and Captain James Mackay, New.: 1 Zealand Militia, also gave : interesting -> ad- ■~. dresses. After this came the march past, of r • those taking part in the procession, X followed; : ; bv the planting of Coronation trees: 5 King ,: tree bv Mrs. Porritt, and the Queen's tree by Mrs. Moore. Messrs. Poland, Casrells,:and Moore also planted trees. :- In the evening .a, large number of the business .places.-were illuminated, and a large bonfire with fireworks brought the proceedings to t a close. >
