VICTORIA COLLEGE,
[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS association;] Wellington. Wednesday. The Acting-Premier (Sir J. Ward) promised a deputation to-day that he would recommend that £2012 be granted to the Victoria College for preparing a site building. As to a building grant, ho promised to consult his colleagues. The chairman of the Council mentioned that * rough estimate put the cost of the necessary accommodation at £40,000. Sir J. Ward said the estimate furnished the Government was that a plain brick building could be provided for £25,000. The annual ceremony in connection with the presentation of University diplomas to students of Victoria College took place today. The Chancellor presided. The proceedings were at times' uproarious, as is usual on such occasions, the undergraduates being present in strong force.
