CHRISTGHURCH LICENSING COMMITTEE.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch, Tuesday. At a special meeting of the Licensing Committee, Denis Fogarty, for whom Mr. Hoban appeared, applied for a renewal of the license of the Oxford Hotel. The police gave evidence to the effect that they were certain Sunday trading went on in the hotel though they kjd been unable to secure a conviction. Mr. Hoban called evidence to show that the hotel had been well conducted, but the committee refused to grant a license on the ground that applicant was not a fit and proper person to hold it. Thirty days were allowed in which to secure a transfer. Mr. Hoban said that he would appeal^
