OTAMATEA MOUNTED RIFLES.
Our Paparoa correspondent writes:—This corps has been shooting for the medal given by Mr. R. Thompson, M.H.R., a match every Saturday for five weeks. It has just been completed. The men had the privilege of choosing three of their best scores out of the five.. Private T. Hill is the winner. The following are the aggregates of some of the best scores:—Private T. Hill, 195 Private F. Nutsford, 185; Private V. T. Nutsford, 183; Private W. Nutsford, 179; Private Niel, 177; Sergeant Snelling, 175; Private Huband, 172; Lieutenant Nutsford, 171; Sergeant-Major Gill, 168; Private J. Hill, 159. A parade will be held on the 31st inst. Some members of the corps are casting about for a suitable material and colour for a new uniform, green being especially liable to fade, particularly in cotton goods.
