NOTES BY "LEFT-ATTACK."

As was anticipated, the Eden and Epsom team are capable of making a good fight with any combination they may meet. In beating Ponsonby it was shown that they possess a good attacking division, while their defence is nearly perfect. Mcintosh, jn-goal, for a new man, did extremely well, but Walker, at point, was the bright particular star. His work on Saturday was the best he lias yet done. McCoy, at centre for Ponsonby. was at times brilliant, and completely outclassed his vis-a-vis, Stewart. The game was a good even one, and interesting. At times the spectators applauded most heartily. Mr. P. White, as referee, deserves a word of commendation for the manner in which he endeavoured to check any attempt at undue roughness. The City team are to be complimented on notching a win against Parnell, though the latter side played three men short, which would make some difference. Nevertheless, six goals is a fairly large score for new men to put up. Presumably the men from the City—like those from Eden and Epsompractice, whilst their opponents do not. In the practice match held on Saturday amongst the junior " A" teams the play of Bagnall, Oldbury, and Brabant was full of merit. The last-named should be a thorn in the side of goalkeepers, as he found the net on three separate occasions.
