LADIES' GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

This first round of the Ladies' Golf Club championship was played yesterday at the Cornwall Links, the competitors being Miss Dean Richmond and Mies Margaret Richmond, and the result was a win for the latter. At the seventh hole. Miss Dean Richmond was four up, but the next three holes fell to Miss Margaret, and the game was all square at the 12th hole. Miss Margaret then won the eastern crater and Jacob Ladder, and stood two up, hut it wan all square again at the Rah. Both players got into trouble at the Rampart, and the hole was ultimately won by Miss Margaret, who was now dormy one. Miss Dean, however, played a steady game at the Amphitheatre, and for the third time- the match was all square. At the 19th hole— men's fourteenth—both players got nice halls. Miss Dean spliced her ball out of bounds, and Miss Margaret, holing in a well-played five, won the match. This morning the second round of the championship will bo played, and the draw is as follows: Miss Margaret Richmond plays Mrs. W. R. Bloomfield, Miss Gillies plays Miss Ware, Miss J. Draper plays Miss Morrison, and Mrs. Keals plays Miss Barstow. At. two p.m. the putting and approaching competitions will be opened. NEW ZEALAND AMATEUR ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION.
