BOROUGH COUNCILS.

GREY LYNN. THE ordinary meeting of the Grey Lynn Borough Council, held last night at the chambers, Rose Road, was attended by His Worship the Mayor (Mr. R. T. Warnock), Messrs. A. Donald, R. Cv Foster, W. Brinsden, J. Farrell, C. McMnster, A. Parker, T. Booth, and W. While. Drainage Loan: Before the ordinary business was gone on with a special meeting! was hold. A letter was read from. Dr. R. 11. Makgill, stating that the Minister for Public Health had approved the Council's proposal to borrow £11500 from the Government to further extend the drainage system. It was agreed to take the necessary steps to secure the money.

Assessment Court: A communication was received from the Valuation Office, stating that May 5 nest, at the Magistrate's Court, had been fixed as the day for hearing objections to the borough valuation roll.

Water Rates: Messrs. A. Clark and Sons requested a reduction in the price of water supplied to their factory in Ponsonby Road, as they understood the City Council had reduced the price charged to the borough. Mr. Brinsden pointed out that the applicants were paying Is 9d per 1000 gallons. Tho borough formerly paid Is 2d, but now paid Is, so he thought a reduction should bo made. Finally the matter was referred to the Finance Committee to consider.

Sanitation: It was decided that a deputation from the Council should wait upon Dr. Mason, chief health officer for the colony, and bring under his notice the condition of the nightsoil depot, situated within the borough, and ask his opinion on tho possibility of having it removed.

Great North Road: It was agreed that the levels of Great North Road be fixed ill accordance with the plan advertised. Arohhill Drainage Hoard: On the motion of Mr. White, the Mayor and Mr. J. Farroll were appointed delegates to represent the borough en the board which is to control the drainage of the Archhill gully. PARNELL. The ordinary meeting of the Parnell Borough Council was held in the Council Chamber last evening, the Mayor (Mr. Hugh Campbell) presiding. There were also present: Messrs. Cozens, Rathbone, Brook, Oilmour, Tewsley, Briggs, and Thomas. The Chairman explained what had been done at the Health Conference yesterday forenoon, and the Council, on behalf of the borough, confirmed the resolutions adopted with regard to the selection of a site and erection of a plague hospital, etc. Accounts amounting to £186 lis were passed for payment. The turncock in his report gave the consumption of water for the past fortnight as 795,000 gallons. The inspector of nuisances was instructed to report to the next meeting of the Council as to any houses not, connected with the main sewage drain. On the motion of Mr. Thomas, it was decided to empower the committee to lay down half-a-chain of tarred macadam in Manukau Road as an experiment. A notice of motion by the same member, asking that the action of the Council's representative (Mr. Cozens) on the Harbour Board in supporting the sending Homo of Mr. Brigham in connection with the Calliope Dock be disapproved by the Council, was adjourned for a fortnight.

ONEHUNGA. After the minutes of the previous meeting had been read at the ordinary meeting of the Onchunga Borough Council last night, it was resolved to adjourn the meeting until to-night to allow the members to attend the annual meeting, of householders for the election of a school committee NEWMARKET. Owing to 'the difficulty in obtaining a quorum, the Newmarket Borough Council did not meet till nine p.m. last evening, when only routine business was disposed of on account of the lateness of the hour.
