AUCKLAND GRAMMAR SCHOOL BOARD.

The Board of Governors o» the Auckland College and Grammar School met yesterdayafternoon. Present: Professor Brown (in the chair), Professor Thomas,' tho Hon. J. A. Tolo, Messrs. I. J. Bagnall and R. Farroi), and Dr. Iloberton.

Chairman: Sir Geo. M, O'R-orko was re-elected chairman foi the ensuing year, and Professor Brown a? vice-chairman.

Property: Mr. Baume wroto asking the Board to accept a surrender of his lease of tho Board's property in Grafton Road, opposite the Choral Hall. Referred to the Property Committee for report. A report of the Property Committee as to tho belt means of utilising, a vacant lot belonging to tho Board in Stanley-street was referred back to the committee. An application by Mr. H. Coo for a lease of tho Board's property in Ayr-street, Pamell, was referred to the Property Committee, with powei to act. Finance: Accounts wore paused amounting to £375 4a Bd. Tho monthly balanceKhoot disclosed a debit balance of £317 17s 7d. The chairman of the Finance Committee reported that the receipts for the year from rents had been £4206 10s 3d. The receipts for weekly tenancies totalled £2360, against which £2120 had been spent in. repairs, rates, insurance, etc. lie added that the past year had been an exceptionally heavy nni in the matter of repairs. Only about £250 had been derived from this source for the benefit of the school, after payments had been made. Tho question was whether more profit; would be received from ground rent than by deriving rents from buildings erected on "the properties. The chairman thought that tho old buildings should be pulled down, ami tho allotments leased as soon as might be deemed fit. Tho report was adopted.
