[FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENTS.] HUNTLY. A MEETING of the Huntly Public Library was held in the library last evening, Mr. ox on in the chair. Mr. W. Bailey, the genial secretary of the committee, read the balanceB h=et, which showed that some £60 4s had been passed through the books, including the Government subsidy, and there remained £21 17s lOd balance hi hand. Seventy-five books had been added to the catalogue. General business was transacted, and the following committee was chosen for the current year:— Messrs. Coxon (chairman). Partes, Friar, Bailev, .Dr. Wilson, and Rev. Ward. Messrs. Cottom and Windsor were , elected auditors. Mr. Capstick was reappointed librarian, and, after discussion, the amount of his remuneration was fixed at £12 per annum. Mr. Bailey was elected secretary, and Mr. Friar treasurer. Thanks were passed to the outgoing committee, to the chairman, and the Secretary, treasurer, and librarian. A lawn tennis ground is being laid down at Glen Murray. It is expected that the G .M. Lawn Tennis Club will have a numerous and vigorous membership. A big lot of cattle are offering at to-day's Rangiriri sale. There is a growing demand for young cattle owing to the good grass season. Mr. Arthur Annandale unfortunately lost a well-bred bull, which fell into a. deep drain, and was not discovered until dead. A new bridge is now being put over the mouth of the Opuatia stream. It will bo a great convenience. A similar bridge is much required at or close to Bregman's landing on the Opuatia. The settlers at Glen Murray are feeling the want of a telephone very much. . They aro greatly handicapped in every way for want of a' telephone. It is a rising district and deserves one.
