MORE MEN WANTED FROM NEW

• ■ Wellington, ' Monday. Instructions have been given for the enlistment of 110 additional recruits to fill up blanks in the' Sixth and Seventh Contingents. Wanganui, New Plymouth, Napier, Palmerston North, and Masterton have been asked to- supply 10 men each. The remainder are to be made up from other districts. .

AN AUCKLANDER WOUNDED.'' ; [BY TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.] . Weijlijsgton', Monday. i: News has been received that private John Considine, of Auckland, Seventh Contingent, was dangerously wounded about the ; chest and spine, near Ingogo, on December 31. The Premier telegraphed to Mrs. N. " Considine yesterday, expressing his. sympathy, and hoped that all would *be for the best. Considine was well known in Auckland. For some time before leaving for the front he had been working at Coromandel. He left Auckland early last year.

CABLE FROM COLONEL PORTER. [BY TELEGRAM. PRESS ASSOCIATION.] / Wellington, Monday. The Premier has received the following Cable from Colonel Porter, dated the 3rd : —The regiment was divided during Decemoer, part being with Colonel Garrett, at Newcastle, and part with me in the Durban district. Our duties were mostly stationary, garrisoning posts and protecting blockhouse erection with occasional night marches and counter attacks by the enemy. The regimental captures are: •Prisoners, seven; rifles, 11 ; ammunition, 90 ; waggons, four; carts, seven ; saddles, 26 ; horses, 670 ; cattle, 430 ; sheep, 1800 ; forage, 160 tons. The casualties are Wounded. 13. The health of the regiment generally has been good. The enteric season is now on, and there are about 30 cases in the hospital. The sick and wounded are doing well. The regiment is to be reunited at Botha's Pass about the 10th. Great interest is taken in the coming of the Eighth Contingent to join the Seventh, and 't is hoped wo will share with each other the end of the struggle. ■
