A STORMY VOYAGE.
EXPERIENCES OP THE VISION". CARGO WASHED OVERBOARD. By Telegraph.—Press Association.— Copyright. Sydney, January 6. The brigantine Vision had ft stormy voyage from Mercury Bay to Newcastle. The vessel had to be continually hove-to, with sea anchors, and owing to the heaviness of the sea oil-bags had to be used in an endeavour to keep the seas from breaking on board.
During the gales the lifeboat was carried away, the deckhouse damaged, and a portion of the deck cargo washed overboard. ■
The Vision is a well-known Auckland vessel, rhd is owned ■: by Mr. George T. Niccol, of this city. * She was formerly s a brig, and was sold to Mr. Niccol by the Kauri Timber ; Company several years' ago. Her ; rig was then changed to that of. a brigantine, and she -wag placed in the intercolonial trade. On previous voyage from Newcastle to Auckland with a cargo of coal, the Vision had a somewhat- similar experience to the one she lias . just gone through, .being caught in a series of gale, in the Tasmau Sea, and made port in a very much damaged state, nearly the .whole of the after part of the vessel being a complete wreck en deck. The Vision on her present voyage sailed from Auckland on November 28 for Mercury Bay, and loaded a cargo of timber for- Newcastle, sailing early in December.
