AUCKLAND RACING CLUB'S SUMMER
MEETING. DURING yesterday St. Michael hardened in price for the Auckland Cup. supplanting Nonette as favourite at 4 to 1. No money was accepted about the son of St. Legcr at that price, but had 5 to 1 been given it would, (here is room to believe, have led to business. There were offers to lay 9 to 2 about Nonette, but the same was not closed with. Bluejacket was quoted at 5 to 1, and Bcddington at 7 to 1; Ideal and Baitleaxe each figure at 8 to 1.
A Taranaki paper to hand states that Mr. F. Watson, the owner of Battleaxe, repudiates the backing of the son of Hotohkiss for the Auckland Cup, which was attributed to the stable from which the horso hails.
No information is yet to hand regarding the shipping of Ideal to Auckland, but from the fact of certain movements in favour of the mare it is assumed that she is on board the Union liner. The Yvaihora is due to arrive to-day.
