CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB'S SPRING MEETING. RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES. [BY TELEGRAPH. —IT, ASSOCIATION.] Christchcrch, Thursday. A large number of spectators were present at Riccarton to witness the winding-up gallops this morning. Glenogle, who was first on the track, put in a good spin of six furlongs from a standing start with bare shoes, finishing in lm. 17s. after a really good trial. Huku and Hawthorne covered six furlongs in lm. 195., while Djin-Djin did long useful work. opener and Stop Dancer ran half amile in 50s. Peerage and Cherrystone put in a good gallop over the same distance. Palaver, with first Shannon and then Rajah to assist, covered a mile and a-half in 2m. 42 4-55., pleasing the people with his style of moving. Military, Will-o'-the-Wisp, Kahuwai, and Sirius then essayed a similar journey, Military finishing in front of Will-o'-the-Wisp and Kahuwai in 2m. 44 4-ss. Next Ideal, Battleaxo, and Canteen went tlira same journey, the latter, ridden out, being first past the post from Ideal in 2m. 44 l-ss. Ideal seemed to gallop very comfortably, as did Battleaxe. Blazer, moving very freely, beat Cora Linn over five furlongs in lm. 4- 2-55., the last four in 49 3-ss. Ostiak was in good trim, and went six furlongs alone in lm. 18 4--ss. Tortulla and Boreas started for a mile and a-half. The chestnut pulled off in tho straight, the mare finishing once round' in 2m. 34 2-55., the last mile and a-quarter in 2m. 16s. Pampero beat Jabber comfortably over six furlongs in lm. 18 l-55., while Strathnairn and Magnificent did a good gallop of a mile and a-quarter in 2m. 15s. Ayrdale beat Paphos and Reliance over six furlongs, finishing in lm. 18 3-ss. Battle Cry galloped half a-mile in 50 2-55., and Mehvood, alone, did a mile and a-half in 2m. 435. in nice style, and made a good impression. Prosser's Porirua and II anna's Ororua. galloped a half-milo go, the former winning easily in 48 3-ss. Gladisla boat Wheeloi ove. a similar journey in 495. A large number of horses were given useful exercise. All the Cup horses are now present. Fashion, who was on the course, seemed a bit sore. There is very little betting at 5 to 1 on the field on offer. Glenaladale was on the course walking about only. Ho burst one of his feet on Tuesday.
